This year's annual conference, with the theme Digging to Deliver Development, assembles the CASM global network and other parties interested in artisanal and small-scale mining in Brasilia, Brazil. Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy Secretariat of Geology, Mining, and Mineral Processing will host the event.

What will I learn?

Attendees will be able to identify more clearly the developmental opportunities in artisanal and small-scale mining, exchange ideas and experience with other practititioners, and help develop CASM's focus for the future. Click here for the agenda.

How do I register?

Please click here to access the registration form.The deadline for registration is September 12, 2008. A US$30 registration fee per person will be collected at the conference.

How do I get there?

Attendees should arrange their own travel to Brasilia. If flight details are included in the registration form, CASM will provide transportation from the airport to the hotel. If the traveler does not provide the flight details, travelers will need to take the available airport taxis to the destination for a fare of approximately R$3,30 at a distance of around 35 km. Taxi fares will not be reimbursed.

Where do I stay?

Accomodations for participants will be at the conference venue, CNTI (Confederação Nacional dos Trabalhadores na Indústria) approximatly 30 minutes outside of Brasilia. Click here for the conference venue Web site.

Conference organizers will book rooms upon request, however, participants are responsible for payment. Please request the room booking via the registration form.

Will I need a visa?

Yes, visas are required to enter the country. If you need an invitation letter to get a visa, contact Michelle McCue.
